Katherine Macpherson
Game maker / player / changer.
Over 24 years of regulatory, banking, insurance, and big-4 consulting experience in the financial services risk management space.
Katherine started her career at OSFI and spent 13 years working across multiple departments, including as a Lead Supervisor for a portfolio of small deposit-takers during the global financial crisis, supporting the Lead Supervisors on multiple big banks and large insurers, building supervisory tools and processes, and leading focused and cross-sector benchmarking examinations during her time in the Operational Risk Department. In 2018, Katherine joined EY where she successfully stood up a National Operational Risk practice in Canada and grew the Non-Financial Risk practice, which was largely focused on Financial Crime, to a sustainable mature practice that included ERM, Compliance, Culture and Conduct, Operational Resilience, TPRM, BCM and Crisis Management. As Associate Partner and National Non-Financial Leader, Katherine tripled the size of the NFR team in two years.
Katherine is on the advisory board and faculties at Osgoode’s RCM Certification Course, YorkU’s Department of Risk and Insurance Management, and Infonex Operational Risk conference. She also speaks at various regulatory events, including at OSFI and the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision forums.
